Berry Spinach Smoothie

We started this beautiful sunny morning of here at Craigleith Provincial Park with a simple and quick to make berry spinach smoothie. Smoothies are always good when camping since they take very little effort and ingredients. And as always are oh so yummy. After breakfast we decided to drive into Collingwood to see what was going on. We passed a nice little antique train station turned into a museum. It was called Craigleith station. It was packed with antiques and history of a train track that used to go from Collingwood to Meaford back starting at the turn of the last century.

This little museum’s entrance fee was based on donation but as always we had no cash, we live in an online world where everything we pay for is either credit or debit. We have to remember to bring cash when on these rural trips!

The museum can also be reached via bike by taking the Georgian trail from the campsite that we took yesterday to Thornbury. After visiting the museum we drove into Collingwood which was rather busy being a Saturday. We did find a little organic market downtown and picked up some Maple Syrup that I used in tonight salad which will be on tomorrows blog. We then ventured on to the famous Blue Mountain Village that is situated right at the base of the busy skiing slopes in winter and the busy mountain bike trials in the summer. We hiked up one of the slopes and took a free ski lift down.

Coming down was a lot easier than hiking up let me tell ya and we work out 5 days a week lol. It was getting late afternoon so we decided it was time for a break and pint. We visited the Dam Pub in Thornbury for a Creemore larger. This pub boasts some 700 plus whiskeys, not that we would ever try one but they do look pretty all lined up behind the bar.

It’s not a vegan pub but they will accommodate your choice, it gets very busy so be warned you will need to reserve if going for dinner.

Back to the breakfast berry spinach smoothie, it’s so simple but great for camping weekends. This smoothie is made with some freshly squeezed oranges, a banana, 10 strawberries, half a cup of raspberries, a cup of blueberries and a handful of spinach.

Berry Spinach SmoothieThe great thing about this smoothies is that it does contain spinach but it does not turn green. So it’s great for kids and adults that don’t like green things!
